In summer of 2015, we were awarded a contract to develop a brand new publication called Preservation Texas. Preservation Texas (PT) is a private, nonprofit member-supported organization dedicated to protecting the historic resources of Texas.
Preservation Texas had not produced a newsletter in awhile and were hoping to give their publication a major face lift with new content designed to attract younger demographic and get them more vested in historic preservation.
After an in depth planning meeting with the stakeholders and staff, we designed a concept that was a resounding success. Based on the approved concept we developed the entire publication, sought the printer bids, prepared the files for printing, and carried the publication through print production. The newsletter has a magazine feel with slick visuals, infographics, bright and beautiful imagery, and enhanced spreads. This effort will continue three times a year.
“Shaila Abdullah was hired in 2015 to design a 24-page newsletter to promote Preservation Texas and communicate with our members and broader constituency. She impressed us with her past materials and her professionalism. The newsletter she produced for us was outstanding. Our board of directors and many of our long-term members remarked that it was the best promotional material that Preservation Texas had every produced. We mailed 2000 units to to current and prospective members and saw an immediate increase in renewals and new members. We also had architecture firms asking to advertised in the newsletter unsolicited. The newsletter that Shaila designed for us has been a game-changer for our organization.”
